Hard to Resist by Samantha Hunter

5 Hearts

Photographer for Bliss Magazine, Lacey Graham has an assignment any woman would welcome --- to photograph 12 hot, sexy men for the upcoming calendar of American heroes but after her last break-up, Lacey would rather work than date.  In walks Mr. November, Jarod Wyatt, a Texas Ranger no less.  Jarod is the kind of man whose sheer presence makes the heart stop but he has more important things to do than pose in front of a camera, even if the photographer behind the camera catches his eye.  Will Lacey be able to show this cowboy something more about photography and women than he ever imagined?  Will Jarod's strength and gentleness help Lacey to forget about her past and give her a new confidence, a confidence in herself as a woman as well as her career?  Jarod and Lacey are both dedicated to their work, almost to the exclusion of enjoying the simple pleasures of life.  Together, can they learn to look and listen and enjoy the pleasures of the moment?  Can hot passion lead to something more than a passing thrill?

In HARD TO RESIST, Samantha Hunter creates a wonderful portrait of a hero in a sexy man full of power, strength yet also gentle and even humble. Jarod doesn't take over the heroine and knows when to ask questions and listen for the small moments before him.  Sometimes strength and power is all about knowing restraint and Samantha Hunter does an excellent job showing those details in her hero's actions.
Through her portrait of Jarod, Samantha Hunter creates a poetic, beautiful, moving passage about the presence of heroes in the world.  Lacey is a refreshing heroine, a mix of professionalism and vulnerabilities that make her a multi-faceted character.  Lacey is a woman who appreciates substance, not just flash, in her men and her career.  From recognizing the camera as a tool to her ability to see Jarod's character, Lacey matches Jarod's observation skills.  But can they trust each other enough to share their hearts, not just their bodies, and stop the disruptions to the production schedule?

Samantha Hunter has a gift for creating secondary characters in the friendships that surround her main characters.  In HARD TO RESIST, friendship gives
the story energy, creating an independent heroine full of character and fun.  Friendship itself leads to some of the special moments in this romance.   HARD TO RESIST combines bit of mystery into a romance of hot passion and deep friendship to create moving final moments.
