Billos has disappeared and Darsal is determined to find him… no matter what the cost. Darsal isn’t alone, however, as Karas is determined to follow her, even into the depths where the dreaded Alucard dwells. Billos finds himself in a strange world called Paradise where he will face a test harder than any Thomas Hunter has ever given him. Will Billos betray them all for power? Will Billos be a RENEGADE?

Wow! The third adventure in Ted Dekker’s Lost Books series is perhaps the best one yet. While previous books have focused more on Johnis, RENEGADE is mainly about Billos. Readers unfamiliar with the overall series are provided a brief synopsis at the beginning but frankly this is a story best appreciated in the context of the series as a whole. In fact, readers familiar with some of Ted Dekker’s other works will note the appearances of other settings and characters as the author weaves this young adult tale in with several of his other adult series.

The themes of RENEGADE are powerfully presented in the guise of a fantasy tale. The mystery of the Great Romance is slowly being revealed to each of our characters as they learn the strengths and the pitfalls of love, especially the love of a Creator for His children. Ted Dekker also weaves in some themes of modern day issues, such as the dangers of becoming addicted to computers and the virtual worlds we see through them. Bravo to Ted Dekker for such a fascinating story!
